According to a report from research carried out at Leeds University, United Kingdom, there’s a relationship between food and the beginning of menopause. The study was conducted on 14,000 women who were fed clean and healthy foods like legumes, green beans, and oily fish – the end of their menstrual cycle was delayed. Meanwhile, those who eat rice and white pasta experienced early menopause onset.
Advantages and Disadvantages of early MENOPAUSE
Some women have serious cramps during their menstrual cycle while others become a little cranky. Most women do not enjoy the times of their periods and you find that they want to get to that point in life where they no longer have a menstrual cycle after bearing children.
There are some pros and cons of having an early or delayed onset of menopause. Early menopause makes a woman susceptible to heart-related problems, sexual dysfunction, depression, and a possible loss of memory.
But on a very positive note and conversely, delayed onset of menopause is associated with lower risk of cardiovascular diseases or Atherosclerosis, lower risk of fracture, and others. Meanwhile, delayed menopause is more beneficial to the overall wellbeing of a woman.
Factors that Delay the Onset of Menopause Including foods
Pregnancy and breastfeeding history
There’s currently a chunk of baby formulas that develops the intellect and physique of a child. However, mothers who breastfed their children for between seven – 12 months at infancy, are likely going to have a higher chance of delayed menopause, than those who do not. This set of women have a greater chance of experiencing the onset of menopause after 45 years.
Also, a full term of pregnancy is also found to lower the risk of early menopause.
Women who are literate reach menopause much later in life than those who are uneducated, according to research. Quite intriguing but research in over 20 nations of the world proved this to be a fact.
Research is still going on regarding the effect of alcohol on the onset or delay of menopause. Some have claimed use of alcohol has zero effect on the start of menopause while others have claimed the use of alcohol might delay the onset of menopause.
However, it is established that low or moderate use of alcohol, say 1-3 drinks in a week is associated with a delayed onset of menopause. Regardless, more shreds of evidence are still being gathered for the use of alcohol and menopause.
So, the CDC has claimed that taking alcohol might not be effective for delaying menopause.
Birth control pills may account for delayed menopause according to research, particularly for black women. This is likely due to the prevention of the release of eggs, which in turn extends the reproductive life of a woman.
Diets high in calories, fruits, and protein
