There are days you wake up from sleep and feel you don’t want to do anything. Does this feel familiar? Itemize and define Your goal
A person without a goal is like a driver who does not know his destination. A goal gives you a clear idea of how and what you should do to achieve anything tangible.
For example, if you intend to become a pilot, you need to go through aviation school and pass a pilot test. So, your goal will include gaining admission into an aviation college and passing all your courses.
You can split your goals into a spiritual, career, physical and personal goals. If you do this, it will be easier to know their order of importance.
Chances are that if you do not itemize and define your goals, you won’t know where or how to start.
Review your goals daily but aim to achieve one first
Your goal should consist of short and long-term goals. And these goals must be arranged in order of importance. Therefore, when you wake up in the morning, do a daily review of all your goals and set out to achieve the most important of them, beginning with the short-term goals.
Achieving a number of your short-term goals will amount to achieving a long-term goal.
Find your inspiration
Inspiration is a way of mentally stimulating yourself to do something. For example, if you want to join the military, watching the military cadet in training can be a source of inspiration. Or imagine that you intend to become a motivational speaker – listening to the likes of Myles Munroe, Les Brown, Robert Kiyosaki and others will certainly inspire you to put in more effort.

Find Someone who share your goal
An African proverb states, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” And this proverb is true because when you’re downcast, your partner may be the one to motivate and inspire you.
If you have a gym partner and the person stops going to the gym, you will likely start by missing days, then weeks until you stop going to the gym too. But on the contrary, you will find yourself in the gym even when you don’t feel like it because your partner is always there.
The reason why you must find a partner who shares your goal is that humans have different moods. When you feel like throwing in the towel, your partner will likely be there to turn your mood around and conversely.
Celebrate little and every accomplishment
Most people are sad and demotivated because they don’t recognize their little wins. You must not wait to get that dream job before you celebrate. Infact being called for an interview that you fail is an achievement – this is because you would have learned a lot from your failure.
And when you recognize the little accomplishments in your life, you will feel happy and more motivated. Most people are sad and depressed because they do not have what they want. But you are unlikely going to have all you want at a go. So, why not be thankful for what you have?
Always pat yourself on the back even when no one is watching. Do all you can to also reward yourself for everything you accomplish. This way, you will feel good about yourself and aim to do more.
Start somewhere and say “NO” to perfectionism
Doing something is far better than doing nothing especially if you want to achieve a goal. When you don’t feel motivated, do not give up on the goal just do something no matter how little. It doesn’t matter if what you’re doing is perfect or not. You just have to do it.

Take a break
When you feel burnt out, take a break but don’t quit. It is normal to be exhausted and when you feel this way, it is better to get some rest. You will not be productive if you continue to work when you feel really stressed.
A timeout gives you the opportunity to have an overview of your progress. Your break can include a walking break or some days off.
When you feel relaxed, you will be surprised at how motivated and enthusiastic you are about your goals.
Manage Your Time
If you are bad at managing your time, chances are that you will not achieve anything tangible. The billionaires of this world are good time managers.
Time management will help you to achieve your goal in a record time. If you don’t manage your time properly, chances are that you will be procrastinating and shifting dates. This can be demotivating.
