10 Tips That Slow Down Early Ageing

Date:

One of the best compliments you can give anyone is to tell them their skin is glowing. The statement has the ability to boost your mood from zero to a hundred. On the flip side, spotting wrinkles and acne on a person’s face and bringing it to their attention is one way to awaken their insecurity and affect their confidence level. If wishes were horses, everyone would love to have smooth baby skin with smoothness, fullness and glow. Unfortunately, there is a time for everything, and your smooth baby skin becomes your struggling adult skin with time.

Skin ageing is a natural occurrence and evidence of your accumulated experience and how long you have stayed on earth. Yet when skin ageing sets in earlier than scheduled by your biological clock, it can be troubling. Premature skin ageing can present itself as dry, thin skin, wrinkles, and dullness. In addition, some external factors accelerate skin ageing, most of which are due to poor choices we make for our bodies.

Below are ways to slow down early skin ageing

Use ingredients that don’t irritate your skin

Some ingredients dry, irritate and sting some skin types. Once you identify those ingredients on your skin type, watch out for them in skincare products because constant use can lead to permanent skin drying, wrinkles, and breakouts, making the skin look older. Know the ingredients that make your skin look rich and those that irritate it, then avoid the distress of accelerated skin ageing.

Create the routine of washing your face twice

Prolonged exposure to sun rays and perspiration can darken and dull the face making it look older. Developing the habit of washing your face at least twice a day and especially after sweating profusely, will keep the complexion bright and youthful. When you wash your face, you remove things that clog your skin, like makeup and sweat and allow your skin to look fresh and young.

Moisturise your face

Moisturising your face helps protect the skin from irritation. Since moisturising traps water in the skin, it helps to reduce dryness, revive the skin, fight signs of acne, smooth sensitive skin, protect the skin from the effect of the sun and slow the signs of ageing.

Exercise regularly

Some studies have shown that regular exercise improves blood circulation and boosts the immune system. However, any improvement in the immune system trickles down to skin wellness, slowing ageing and general body wellness.

Eat healthily

Some minerals and nutrients have positive effects on the skin and can be found in fresh fruits, leafy green vegetables, and proteins. These vitamins and minerals help the skin heal faster, exfoliate dry skin, fight dryness and wrinkles as well as brighten the skin.

Don’t make squinting a habit

Facial expressions like squinting, and angry or goofy faces, involve contracting and releasing some muscles. Making these facial expressions, a habit can train the muscles to permanently contour in a wrinkled way, leaving face lines and causing the face to age faster.

Manage your alcohol consumption

Alcohol dehydrates and dries the skin when consumed in uncontrolled proportion. On the other hand, the skin thrives well in a moisturised and hydrated condition. Rampant consumption of alcohol and its side effect on the skin makes the skin look older.

Wash your face gently

When washing your face, do not apply too much pressure to clean dirt, dead skin or makeup. Scrubbing the skin can lead to irritation and injury, which fasten ageing. Limit your facial scrubbing to once or twice a week.

Use sunscreen

Protecting your skin from sun exposure is the first step in taking care of your skin, yet the hardest. This is because there are so many reasons to be exposed to the sun, like getting a tan, exercising, taking a stroll or walking to a destination, waiting for a bus, and so on. Since staying away from the sun is a near-impossible task, you can protect your skin by staying under the shade, wearing long-sleeved shirts, pants, wide-brimmed hats, sunglasses and most importantly, sunscreen.

Stop smoking

Smoking speeds up skin ageing by causing wrinkles and dullness. If you are a smoker, work on quitting; if you haven’t smoked before, it is not a hobby you want to start.

Conclusion

Glowing, youthful, and healthy skin gives you confidence; therefore, protect your skin by following the laid down steps.
