10 DIY Anti-Ageing Face Masks For Smoother And Firmer Skin

Date:

I will be frank with you. A lot of the (Do It Yourself) DIY anti-ageing face mask tutorials are nothing but a sham. There are a lot of facial skincare routines online. So many websites and blogs with different recipes, I call a lot of them ‘recipes for disaster’. Recipes for disasters because of the products and ingredients they suggest. These ingredients are mostly harmful to the skin and that is why we are going to look at 10 DIY anti-ageing face masks for smoother and firmer skin.

Every face, irrespective of skin type and condition just needs a little pampering and extra attention. I have heard a lot of people complain about their different experiences with facial skincare routines. Not a lot of good reviews I must confess.

I have also had my fair share of disappointments. Although after a long journey, with several failed attempts, I can confidently tell you that I have succeeded. While on this journey, I heard so many myths about facial routines. I heard it doesn’t work on black women and it doesn’t treat dry skin, and It cannot get rid of blackheads, etc.

However, that doesn’t mean all DIY anti-ageing face masks and skin routines are off-limits or are recipes for disasters. It just means you need to know the dos and don’ts. To know which ones are the safest to try and which are a NO go zone. And that’s where I come in. If you’re reading this, here are the most practical, realistic, affordable DIY face mask. So, scroll down a bit and experience the best of a carefully chosen face mask DIY that is bound to change your face.

Acne-free face mask

Acne is a common struggle for both men and women. And there are so many DIYs on acne treatment. It can sometimes be confusing. This recipe is easy and simple to make and use. It is an aloe vera mask. Aloe vera is a natural cleanser and calming agent.

Ingredients

  • Aloe vera
    • Turmeric
    • Green tea

Instructions

Mix or blend some aloe vera with either turmeric or green tea. Mixing the aloe vera with green tea or turmeric gives the same effect. Both of them help with oil control and sensitivity. Apply smooth paste on the face. Leave for 15-20 minutes. Rinse and moisturize.

Blackhead face mask

This all-natural ingredients face mask is magical. This green tea and aloe vera mask combination is divine. Green tea possesses antioxidant and antibacterial properties. Aloe Vera is a natural cleanser. This recipe is the perfect duo.

  • Green tea
    • Aloe vera

Homemade anti-inflammatory mask

A long day at work or shuttling around can leave the skin feeling red, irritated, and inflamed. We have all been there. This mask recipe helps to take care of such days. It’s easy and simple to make.

Ingredients

  • Papaya (it contains vitamins, enzymes and minerals that reduce irritation and natural moisturizer)

Instructions

Get half a papaya. Scope out the seeds. Cut the papaya into cubes and place in a bowl. Use either a blender to puree it or mash it manually until smooth. Wash the irritated areas and face with warm water to open up the pores. Apply papaya mask and leave for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off the mask and moisturize.

Dry skin face mask routine

Having dry skin can be upsetting and annoying. And to compound the issue, most of the tutorials and DIY masks online involve oils. These oils usually clogged the pores and that’s bad for the skin. The recipe below is easy and reliable. No dry skin and no pore-clogged.

Ingredients

  • Honey
    • Avocado

Instructions

Mash one-half of the avocado. Add 1 teaspoon of honey. Mix until smooth. Apply on your face. Leave it on your face for 10, 15 or 20 minutes. Rinse off and moisturize. Easy and simple to do. It leaves your face feeling and looking like a baby’s butt.

Oily skin DIY mask

The ingredients for treating oily skin are not as mind-boggling and tedious as some tutorials make them look. Two or three ingredients are all it takes to achieve perfect oil-free skin. To absorb excess oil on the face, I use these face mask recipes.

Ingredients

  • Aloe Vera
    • Egg white
    • Honey

Instructions

Mask 1

Apply honey on the skin in the morning. Leave for a minimum of 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Pat dry your face and apply moisturizer. So simple, it can be done every day.

Mask 2

Mix 2 tablespoons of extracted Aloe Vera gel, and 1 egg white in a bowl. Aloe Vera has properties that hydrate the skin among other things. And egg white contains properties that can unclog the pores of the skin. As well as natural antibacterial properties. Okay so after beating the two together, apply them on the face. Leave this on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse and moisturize.

Dark spots face mask

YouTube has a ton of DIY tutorials on getting rid of dark spots. Turmeric isn’t the only DIY ingredient for dark spots. I am going to share my go-to recipes for removing dark spots. It might not be the conventional DIY but it works.

Ingredient

  • Slice of onion( it has properties that work magic in getting rid of scars and marks)
    • 1 clove of garlic( it helps blood circulation)

Instructions

Cut a slice of onion into a bowl. Peel garlic and add to the onion. Grind and mix together, until a paste is formed. Apply on dark spots and leave for 20 minutes (the smell is a small price to pay for a dark spot-free face). Wash off the paste, until the smell is washed off. Apply a moisturizer. Doing this once a day is enough.

Glowing and dull skin mask

Getting glowing skin is not as hard as many people make it sound. It doesn’t need a lot of ingredients and procedures. I’ll be sharing two different DIY to help you glow and get rid of your dull skin. They can be done on a daily or weekly basis, for a better effect it should be done frequently. Follow my mask recipe below in other to get the desired result.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of water
    • 1 green teabag
    • Raspberries
    • Half avocado
    • 2 tablespoons of oatmeal

Instructions;

Mask 1

Boil one cup of water. Add green teabags and boil for 3 minutes. Cut open the teabag and pour the leaves into a bowl (the liquid is good for the body). Slice 6 raspberries and mash together with tea leaves, until fully incorporated. Apply on clean and dry skin. Leave it on for a minimum of 20 minutes, before washing. Then follow through with a normal skin routine, i.e. moisturizers, etc.

Mask 2

Mash avocado in a small bowl. Add oatmeal and mix. Until fully incorporated. Apply mask to the skin and leave for a minimum of 15-20. Wash with cold water and pat dry. Apply moisturizers and done.

Conclusion

The face mask is helpful in my skincare journey. What is more beneficial is that there are varieties of natural face mask DIYs to try out, and for those who prefer a specific routine, picking a natural face mask to stick to will be easy. From experience, I can tell you that the face responds better to natural remedies easily accessible at home and in the groceries than chemical-based skin care products saturating the market.
