Have you wondered why some of your favorite idols and celebrities appear a tad younger than their real ages? Looking good and staying younger is not necessarily a function of cosmetics or fashion but there are certain anti-aging foods you eat that can also turn back the hands of time.

Particularly for those who have clocked 40, you can become the toast of your friends’ given certain foods that glow the skin and leaves it tender. Foods that are loaded with antioxidants, healthy fats, water, and essential nutrients tell positively on the skin.

Your outward appearance is also a result of what you consume, so if you are mindful of your diet, your skin will respond in a similar fashion. And according to a study, vegetables and fruits effectively deal with fine lines and dull complexions – this should already leave you with the idea that there are foods that are good for anti-aging purposes.

Here we go, 10 anti-aging foods that can work for those in their 40s and above.

  • Avocado

Avocados are very rich in anti-aging properties because they contain various essential nutrients. Vitamin A, C, E, and K abound in Avocados, while vitamins B and Potassium are also found in them. All of the aforementioned nutrients including fatty acids all make the skin smooth and tender.

Also, Vitamin A in avocados basically sheds dead skin from the surface, leaving only new skin cells that glow. The skin is also protected from toxins and sun rays are also blocked by the carotenoid in avocados.

You can take avocados orally or mix them with salad or smoothie. There are so many ways in which you can take avocados but all of the methods are equally beneficial to the skin.

  • Sweet potatoes

Sweet potatoes come in colors but if you find an orange-colored sweet potato, it is a result of an antioxidant called beta-carotene. The antioxidant is converted to vitamin A which makes the skin appear tender and youthful.

Just in case you do not know, sweet potato is a root vegetable and it is a source of vitamins C and E, which serve to protect the skin from ravaging free radicals.

Potatoes can be served fried, cooked, or as chips.

  • Broccoli

Broccoli is one of the most nutrient-filled vegetables that also have anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties. It is a great source of calcium, fiber, folate, lutein, vitamin C, and K.

Vitamin C produces collagen in the body which strengthens skin and makes it a tad elastic.

Broccoli can be eaten raw or mixed with salad or added to a soup. The body derives various benefits from eating this vegetable.

  • Blueberries

If you are looking for a very rich source of vitamins A and C, you can go for Blueberries. It particularly has an antiaging agent called anthocyanin.

Anthocyanin protects the skin from sun-ray damages, stress damages as well as preventing the loss of collagen.

You can just throw this fruit into your smoothie or fruits salad.

  • Red bell pepper

Red bell pepper is another food loaded with antiaging properties. It is filled with vitamin C, which produces the protein called collagen that makes the skin looks softer. It also has antioxidants that fight wrinkles.

The antioxidant in a red bell pepper is called Carotenoids, which is responsible for the coloration of fruits and vegetables.

You can add red bell pepper to your salad and put in food to eat.

This vegetable predominantly contains vitamin C which produces collagen that keeps the skin firm and tender.  You also find that leafy green promotes hair growth on the skin, which leaves it better.

A vast majority of nuts have a good percentage of vitamin E. And vitamin E repairs worn-out tissue on the skin and leaves it hydrated. Almonds and Walnuts are particularly rich in vitamin E, which also protects the skin from rays of the sun,

You can add nuts to salad for consumption or snack on it. Nuts are better taken with their skin on.

Papaya is one of my best fruits because of its juicy taste. It contains various vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. And all of these serve to improve the elasticity of the skin and reduce wrinkles.

Calcium, vitamin Bs, Phosphorous, magnesium, potassium, and vitamins A, C, E, and K are found in this fruit.

Antioxidants in papaya protect the skin from ravaging free radicals, which eventually delay all signs of aging.
